Lightbulb #AskTessa on Twitter

28th May, 2015.

Tessa Jowell as part of her campaign to be Labour's candidate for London Mayor today held her 2nd #AskTessa session on Twitter which ran from 11 to 12am. Once again it appears to have been a major success with the term trending at No. 3 in the UK.

Below is the official announcement and I'll embed some of the Tweeted questions about gambling, betting, casinos & FOBT's of which there appear to have been a considerable amount. There were also a bunch of funny ones.

Thumbs up Cracking idea

A cracking idea from Ms Jowell and as you can see she replied to a couple of the questions.

If it turns out to be a weekly event I'm sure that they'll be many more Tweets on gambling and betting. After all, the countries that make up Great Britain are the only ones in the world that allow citizens to play casino games for such high stakes on devices located just feet from the high street.

A decade ago however when Labour was in power the landscape and Government ministers attitudes were somewhat different. FOBT's began being installed en masse in 2002 and the Gaming Board decided for some reason to adopt a light touch. Times change however and since then research on addiction and demographics has been conducted and completed, so perhaps it's now time that the laws on FOBT's content & stakes should be modified.

Casino games IMO really need returning back to licensed casinos.
Surely that's where they belong?

Lightbulb #AskTessa 4th June

In her bid to become Labour's candidate for London Mayor Ms Jowell has completed another #AskTessa session.

In no particular order here are some of the questions tweeted to her about #betting and #gambling. It appears that she answered one on Betting Office numbers with quite a strong reply. I'll also have a look for #casino.

Lightbulb Tessa's Twitter Stats

I started this thread one week ago. How has Tessa done on Twitter since then?

So around 200 Tweets and she gained circa 300 followers, but also had a pruning session, reducing the number she follows by about the same amount.

More on the upcoming mayoral election and potential candidates.

For those not on Twitter I can attest that it's a nightmare finding relevant info if you follow too many accounts. The best way is to separate them into lists on specific topics. Again it's something that can be mega time consuming as is Social Media generally.

I sometimes wish we could go back to the late 90's when you needed your own website to get in the game.
