Chile Casinos & earthquake damage
Regular readers of this forum and followers of events in the South American gaming scene will be aware of major casino developments and openings in Chile since the countries gaming laws were changed in 2005 to allow another 17 or so operations.

Monticello - Injuries and damage
The Superintendencia de Casinos de Juego in Chile has posted the following message

Messages on Twitter about this venue suggest that there have been a limited number of injuries but no fatalities. This YT video shows panic during the evacuation with sprinklers in operation. The Superintendencia de Casinos de Juego asked operators on the 1st March to submit reports on damage and the current status of their properties.

Clairvest - Marina Del Sol Casino
Following on from Sun International announcing damage to the Monticello Casino, Canads's Clairvest released a statement yesterday about their 50% stake in Marina Del Sol.

GamblingCompliance.com has an article today based on statistics released from the Superintendencia de Casinos del Juego for March.

"The Chilean gambling regulator confirmed that as a result of the earthquake, a total of seven casino venues were forced to suspend operations during the month – with three casinos still shuttered as a result of ongoing repairs to damage caused by the quake." "The regulator also said that total visits to Chile’s casinos fell by 56 percent (to 178,733 from 406,500) between February and March. However, average spend per visit was up – by 26 percent to US$66.50."
