Lightbulb Derren Brown - How To Beat A Casino

Coming up this Friday - 2nd October.

Derren Brown | How To Beat A Casino | Channel 4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLRBmoF86fI

Should the industry be scared or will it be like the film 21 - some cracking free advertising ?

The latter

.....cracking free advertising IMHO

His last 3 shows have simply been camera trickery, a variety of hypnotic stage techniques and NLP and I assume this one to be no different whatsoever.

Gotta be a publicity stunt- are there any casinos that allow 5000 quid straight up?

Question Might not be in a casino ?

Here's an earlier Derren Brown attempt from September 2006 involving BJ card counting
It's supposedly in a casino but the cash chips look extremely dodgy to me

P.S. Just noticed at the very beginning of the clip the casino name on the brass plaque is "The Royale Casino"

old hat...

David Blaine, although undoubtedly an even bigger tw*t than Brown, does this so much better and slicker.

Both the casino win, and the lottery trick, and have been on YouTube for some time.

so, where is it??

Having just seen the said episode.. I still am not sure of the location. If it exists

To accept an equivalent of £5 k straight-up bet, it must be a salon prive somewhere. But, the equipment is of an old, generic quality and not what you would find in any prive worth is salt.
The dealer was of an excellent standard regarding procedures and chipwork but note the separators are the old high ones which lock the ball into the number. Any decent manager would have bought, by now, low walled separators that let the ball bounce around, especially if a punter can bet £5k on a straight up.

Sorry to say this as most will disagree, but his theory of guessing the area of the ball dropping by calculating the speed of cylinder and speed of ball, I can accept it as a possibility. Especially with hall wall separators. I haven't seen it, but i have seen similar.
I don't mean lucky dealers, repetitions ect... thats just BS.

Anyone here open to let Derren have a punt of £5k at their tables??

Enjoyed watching that

Better quality...

Very old (probably Huxley) wheel with adjustable separators. You normally only see them at fun casinos these days or in YT videos for individuals trying to sell Roulette computers

If they were undercover how did they get the overhead camera shots, especially the one on the wheel itself ?

The chap was probably an actor and it was strange that it took him a while to notice on his TV that he was being filmed.

Maybe Mr Brown failed ? Of course if he succeeded we would have had to see him receiving 180k at the cage. That would have been interesting

Euros vs pounds

Considering it was supposed to be £5000 pounds the dealer clearly states 5000 euros.
Love to know which bank lets you walk in and take £5000 in cash in the space of a few minutes - mine grumble at anything over £500 and want at least 24 hours notice.
At least it's got people talking about beating a casino and we may see an increased attendance as other people try to beat the wheel.
