Lightbulb How to play Pachinko

Never having been to Japan, but being a customer of Betfair where they have a Pachinko game in the Arcade section I thought I'd investigate further.
As Pachinko is a visual as well as audio experience acres of text will never get the job done so here are a selection of videos.

The machines are different but the basics are the same - Pachinko in Japan back in 1985.

Lightbulb If casinos are ever legalised in Japan...

They're certainly going to have to offer a different set of games from the norm.
Otherwise how are they going to drag the punters away from their ball bearings ?

Check out the size of this place.

The business also appears to be mainly controlled by Koreans.

Lightbulb Recent flickr images

The legalisation of casino gaming in Japan has once again been in the news recently.
For any new casino operation to be a success however it must attract customers away from the Pachinko arcades.

The market is potentialy colossal though* so one can fully understand why western operators are so keen to get a slice of the action.

Below are some recent images posted on Flickr showing busy Pachinko parlours. It's noticeable that there appear to be two different types of machines - one with the traditional metal balls (Pachinko) and the other with spinning reels (Pachislo).

The Japanese government estimates the annual revenues of the pachinko and pachislot industry are in the region of Ľ29 trillion (US$378 billion) thereby indicating the popularity of these games. This is approximately four times the total profit of world-wide legal casino gambling each year.
