Odyssey Machines

What happened to the owners of the Odyssey machines.?? I know they went bust but was wondering why...
They looked great and were always popular with the players although were a pain in the arse when they went wrong (especially the touch screen!!)

Well, just wondering!!!!

To the best of my knowledge Odyssey were bought by IGT and shelved for a later date.

If IGT can't beat them they'll by them!

Jess is correct, IGT bought Silicon Gaming the maker of the Odyssey Game.
The deal was more for the Patents that Silicon owned, rather than the Odyssey Game

Thanks, I know ina few casinos all the Odysseys were removed, something to do with not having the repair techs on hand or spare parts available, but if IGT bought them then u would have thought they would at least have continued to support the machines, although I can see from Harp's comment that IGT has bought them for their patents and shelved their products.....

Post NO WAY

Hi Dodgy77,

If IGT has bought them, it's because they have something they want. Forget the machine name, think technology and a fatter market share. The last thing IGT wants is to support anything that doesn't have IGT written on it.

I mean, what are they going to do, find every Odyssey, scratch out the name Silicon and slap an IGT sticker on top......

It's all down to survival of the fittest and the deepest pockets wins...

Still, I do agree that they should at least support the product for a year or 2......unfortunately not good business sense..

I'm sure you've heard the saying, "accountants rule the world"
